The Brisbane Irish Festival is a long-standing annual event that promotes and celebrates the occasion of St Patrick’s Day, Irish culture and its contribution to the state of Queensland. The St Patrick’s Day Parade has been held amidst the streets of Brisbane city since 1989, flooding the inner-city district with a colourful convoy of more than 80 floats and displays representing Irish culture that provide free community-oriented entertainment for all ages.
2022’s St Patrick’s Day Parade attracted approximately 10,000 onlookers into Brisbane’s CBD to watch the event. 2023’s parade is intended to take place along the same route starting and ending outside the Botanic Gardens on Alice Street in the CBD. The proposed event is expected to attract a more spectators than 2022, with plans to improve the parade via an increase in the quality and quantity of floats and vibrant visual displays participating.
The St Patrick’s Day Parade is organised by the St Patrick’s Day Parade Association Inc. This group hosts the St Patrick’s Day Parade, and promotes the Brisbane Irish Festival organised by other groups and organisations, which surrounds the parade. The Brisbane Irish Festival continues to grow in popularity, as well as size, now involving the greater Brisbane district. It is hoped that with your help the festival will continue to grow, offering residents and visitors within Queensland a vibrant major community event.
